Blackshear Elementary Students, Teacher Honored at January Board Meeting

Blackshear Elementary Students, Teacher Honored at January Board Meeting

The Klein ISD Board of Trustees recognized an amazing Blackshear Elementary staff member and two outstanding students at the January Board meeting for their dedication to success in the classroom.

Special Education Academic Lead Teacher, Ms. Michele Mulkey, goes above and beyond for her students. She strives to make her classroom an environment where students can succeed by building relationships with her students as a trusted resource they can come to when in need. As a school leader, Ms. Mulkey helps ensure that all Buffaloes continue to shine.

“I am so proud to have Michele at Blackshear because she truly is the heart of our campus,” Blackshear Elementary School Principal Ashley Baker said. “She thinks not only of every student, but also every staff member.”

Goal-oriented 5th grader Claire does whatever it takes to be successful in the classroom. For Claire, embracing trial and error while learning is important. As an eager learner, she doesn’t shy away from a challenge and always seeks out opportunities to become better.

“One of my favorite things about Claire is that she sets goals for herself and works so hard to meet those goals,” ELA and Social Studies teacher Ms. Jennifer Scheffer said. “Claire is not afraid to take a step to be adventurous in her learning.”

Bilingual student Jose is an exemplary student whose teachers have seen him grow since Pre-K. As a leader in his classroom, Jose is always willing to work with others and improve himself. His teachers enjoy having him in his classroom for his wonderful character and dedication to achieving his goals.

“Jose has shown every single aspect of what it takes to be a great Klein ISD student,” 5th Grade Teacher Ms. Nadia Paz said. “He works wonderfully with other students and is a great helper.”

We are so proud of these exceptional Blackshear Buffaloes! Congratulations, Ms. Mulkey, Claire, and Jose.
